Thank you to everyone who came to the District Six Convention in New Orleans, LA hosted by the Louisiana Association of Parliamentarians! It was great seeing so many new and familiar faces.

Thank you to all of the workshop attendees and speakers that gave their time and talents: Daniel Ivey-Soto, PRP, CP-T presenting “Bylaws-A Trip Down Memory Lane”; James Lawson, RP presenting “Serving Two Masters”; Finos “Buddy” Johnson presenting “A Small World within the Vast Parliamentary Universe”; Daniel Seabold, PhD, PRP presenting “Pointed Comments about Boards and Committees”; Tony Grey, PRP presenting “Spare the Gavel, Spoil the Member”; and Ramona Marsalis-Hill, PRP presenting “Shoot for the Stars, Plan for Amazing Meetings”.

Louisiana’s Lieutenant Governor, Billy Nungesser gave a special welcome to the attendees that we will not forget. His love for his state and its citizens were evident, especially during and after Hurricane Katrina.  The attendees felt his passion for service.

The convention finished on an amazingly high note (notes actually) of the fabulous food, singing and prayer at the Gospel Brunch at the New Orleans House of Blues. Thanks again for the hours of work by the LAP and especially the conference coordinator Alison Wallis, JD, PRP, CP-T for creating this memorable event.

Congratulations to the incoming District Six Director elected during the conference, Jim Lawson, RP from Oklahoma. Jim will begin his service at the close of the NAP Biennial Convention in Lombard, IL.

If you have not already registered for the NAP Biennial Convention, there is still time to participate! In addition to the business meeting, there are more than 35 educational sessions, professional registration credentialing and renewal course, and the Leadership Conference. Networking events like the excursion to Navy Pier, the NAP Educational Foundation Brunch and auction, District meeting, and the Silver and Blue Gala will offer plenty of time to network with other parliamentarians, future credentialed parliamentarians and students from across the nation. Be sure to register for the Membership and Youth Luncheon to honor the associations and units with outstanding performance as well as the success the youth have accomplished. Many thanks to all of the Leadership in District Six. It is been the pleasure of the District Director to have served you.
